FAQ
Ashley is inspired by the intersection of human experience, technology, and possibility. Her books often emerge from questions she’s been thinking about for years about how systems shape people, how data reveals invisible patterns, and how design can empower communities. Much of her work grows out of her personal journey in engineering and education, combined with a lifelong curiosity about how society can be rebuilt to serve people better.
Some books come together quickly once the ideas are clear in Ashley’s mind. Others take much longer because they need more research, outlining, and careful revision. Ashley usually starts by creating a big outline filled with all the topics she wants to explore. She lists every idea that feels important, and then she begins shaping the book from that foundation. Sometimes the structure forms almost immediately. Other times she spends weeks or months refining it. When she writes, she slips into a deep flow state where she becomes fully absorbed in the work until the book feels right.
Both. Ashley draws heavily from her engineering background, academic research, and hands-on projects in data science and education. But she also writes from lived experience from teaching, mentoring, designing systems, and navigating the spaces between different worlds. Each book blends evidence-based insight with real human stories and questions.
